Our librarian team member Wendy had a look through Dr. Seuss’s books and settled on Horton Hatches the Egg as a terrific example of
“IF YOU PERSEVERE AND REFUSE TO GIVE UP, YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS IN THE END”.
Here is her effort:
*****************************************************
The author is Theodore Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss). His style of writing in some of his books is anapestic meter: short/short/long syllables. Others are written in straightforward prose.
The book we have selected to imitate in style is Horton hatches the egg.
The three made up words: spirds, ploss, gasserts
Debbie builds roads for spirds to cross
Wendy reads books to learn about ploss
Kathy walks trails to visit the frogs
Beth studies rocks and jumps over logs
When we gather together to discuss gasserts
We must ensure there are many desserts.
*********************************************************
The rest of us feel that she has captured our team to a T, and that Dr. Seuss would have enjoyed discussing anapestic meter and other fun literary tools. Definitely we will be having lots of desserts!
Cheers, Beth, Kathy, Debbie and Wendy
Note that Debbie could not be in the final photo, as she came down with covid a few days before we could gather to take the photo. We took the picture in front of the Dunrobin Christmas tree, on the occasion of our WI community tree-lighting party, which we put on every year.
