Big W Little w Wow! Wow! Wow!
Women’s Institute will show you how.
We celebrated 125 with wit, works and whim now.
Our WISH team was headed by our leader Nancy,
Who likes to organize parties quite fancy.
Susan is amazing at coming up with ideas and grandchildren who rate (LEGO)
She formats, photographs, submits and keeps us up to date.
Karen, a neighbour, was one of us to begin,
But serious health problems made her give in.
I, Elizabeth am the resident ‘wordsmith’,
Who tells the stories and works with
The others in our group, the Mountain Well WISHers,
As we explored our role in renovations and donation ‘dishers’,
Of Ameliasburg Hall and what it entailed,
To be used by many groups in ways detailed.
We moved on to tackle the transit marathon,
Of pursuing a huge goal that went on and on,
As we all persevered battling red tape and naysayers,
Empowering others with great team players.
The next adventure was collecting rocks at Wellington Beach,
(and almost stepping on a sunbather!)
To paint and give to someone who is a ‘superstupendouspeach’.
Some projects however, were not so successful,
Like our failed Tim’s recruitment which was stressful,
Causing us to strike out ‘flamously’,
As we tried to spread the good word of WI shamelessly.
With pumpkin carving, we had a better outcome,
As we became kid-like and witchywondersome!
So we’ve gone from the serious to preposterous,
As we spread the word of WI with awesomeness,
We persevere and ultimately reach our goals,
Like Dr. Seuss said through his character roles,
If you persevere and refuse to give up, you can accomplish your goals in the end. - Notes
