WISH Team’s Recipe For Carving 'Our Best Pumpkin Face Forward’

Ingredients:

1 cup of cooperation
4 heaping tablespoons of support
1 teaspoon of speaking your mind
1 dash of compassion
A few grains of patience
1 scoop of female empowerment

* Prepare Ahead of Time: Team Captain writes down eight features to be carved from pumpkin on individual slips of paper. Add a pinch of humour by including a Hallowe’en joke on each. Fold the paper strips. Toss them into witch’s cauldron. Set aside.

Method For Carving Pumpkin: Mix above ingredients until consistency is smooth. Travel with other members of Addie’s Angels Team (Remember Charlie’s Angels?) to Moore’s Pumpkin Patch. Combine adventure and fun in equal amounts. Hunt for a glorious pumpkin. Select the perfect one together. Assemble at a Team member’s house in Glen Morris. Use Angel’s ‘weapon of choice’ (knife) for carving mission. Determine the order for taking turns to carve by having everyone roll two dice. First person spoons out a piece of paper from cauldron, reads joke and carves out specified feature. Wait until the task is completed before removing another paper or the element of surprise and ‘free flow’ may sour. Repeat process until all team members have had two turns. Marinate conversation with equal parts of sharing and listening. Sprinkle generously with laughter. Stir in constructive advice sparingly. Separate any criticism that may form and throw it away. Replace with encouragement and acceptance. Beat challenges by breaking them down into smaller portions. Roll out any stress. Blend conversation, laughter and fun, and add refreshments for seasoning. Continue to mix four equal parts of collaboration to create one whole group effort. When carved pumpkin face is finished, spread compliments to all team members. Put a light inside of pumpkin to give its face a magical glow. Take Team photo of members with finished product. (l-r Karen Murray-Hopf, Margaret McPherson, Ronna Hoogstraten, Lyanne Lynch). Place carved pumpkin with its 'Best Face Forward' on a front porch for Hallowe’en night when trick or treaters come to visit. “Whooo...” knows, it may even chase the Ghouls and Goblins away!
