It’s been a gorgeous fall with beautiful warm days and crisp nights making for a perfect pumpkin crop! Our team pictured left to right is Tannis, Marilyn, Jennifer and Susan. Carving out a time to get together is a real challenge as being young retirees - there’s lots to do - places to go and people to see! We each rounded up our own pumpkins. Jennifer’s was grown by her husband Stuart in his veggie patch. Marilyn’s came from a farmer who supplied a box of vegetables weekly and Tannis picked hers up at a local farm. To be perfectly honest, Susan really detests carving pumpkins so was our cheerleader. We gathered at Tannis’s home on a lovely October afternoon and set to work. Marilyn used hallowe’en cookie cutters to shape the face and created the hole on the bottom. Jennifer carved WIW into her pumpkin. Tannis chose a traditional set of scary features. We enjoyed tea and snacks and reminisced about pumpkin carving with our children and trick or treating traditions. We have 11 children and 6 grandchildren combined. It’s interesting how some people really GET INTO Hallowe’en and for others it’s their least favourite holiday. But with the popularity of pumpkin farms across Ontario and the events tied to this time of year, it’s obvious that it’s a very popular family friendly time. - Notes
