Our "Boo Crew" , Elizabeth Shantz, Susan Donly and Nancy Wood, met at the home of our team member, Nancy Wood, on a sunny afternoon to have fun with her grandchildren, Jordan (9) and Theo (4). Jordan and Theo were a big help cleaning out the pumpkins. The following is Halloween poem composed by our talented team member, Elizabeth Shantz.
HALLOWEEN WISH
Twas the fright night before Hallowe'en when all throught the house,
Every creature was stirring, even the house mouse.
The loot bags were hung near the chimney with care,
In the hope that the Great Pumpkin will soon be there.
The children were panicking, the costumes weren't ready,
And as Mom, I was trying to keep everyone steady.
"Now being me my sewing kit and my mug of tea,
We'll fix up these costumes, it won't overcome me,
We need roo. For a jacket under this outfit,
Or you'll freeze Trick or treating and come home in a snit.
They're not calling for rain, so we're okay,
You won't get soaked on your Hallowe'en forray.
Alterations are completed, now off to bed,
I know it's hard, but you heard what I said."
There were some grumbling and then tossing and turning,
As visions of of treats in their brains were churning.
Now I am off to bed to catch up on my sleep,
Pa is already sawing logs and sleeping so deep,
Unaware of the trauma I had to face,
And how, as usual, did I keep pace,
With children's needs and wishes galore,
As they anticipate all the fun in store,
As ghosts and goblins and other scary creatures,
Canvas the neighbourhood for the best candy features.
So in the spirit of giving, we shell out the loot,
And maybe dress up and have some fun to boot!
It's time for us to become a kid again,
And share the fun as we remember when
We too were young and ready to celebrate,
The little things of life we need to appreciate.
So don't be scared to be in the moment and enjoy
The celebration.
Creep it real!
