- I must give special “kudos” to the WISH team for making us think outside the box and step out of our comfort zone. But, as you can see by the picture, we did complete the challenge and met a great couple. In the picture are June Lise, Darlene Harding, Heather Stinson, Marilyn King, Gwen Catherwood and Wayne Lise. After a great breakfast and a wonderful chat our non WI member Marilyn went home and wrote this poem which sums up our day out.
The WI Way
We returned from vacation, all four.
Our discussion turned to challenge four.
Where would we go for coffee?
Who would our new friend be?
Diana Sweets, a local spot came to mind
So, there we met a friend to find.
While sitting chatting and catching up
In came a couple all dressed up!
Our group leader started the chat
Discussing our cause and purpose so that
These folks would know
What the WI is and where we go.
This visit took an interesting twist
We all had connections
One way or another
We all knew of each other.
The couple had attended church with us.
He worked in a local business.
She had driven our kids on the bus.
Interesting how this came together for us.
Taking our gift certificate just didn’t feel right
So, looking around and within sight was an elderly man alone
He accepted our certificate from them with a smile
And asked them to walk to us and thank us right.
The moral of this story is
Be friendly, be kind and chat away.
For someone new or alone you can make their day!
Isn’t that the WI way?
