Description

Our members, Susan Donly, Elizabeth Shantz and Nancy Wood, met at Tim Horton's in Wellington. The following is our story, told so well by Elizabeth Shantz.

"About Women's Institute"

When it comes to WI, we are very proud,

We extol its virtues long and loud,

About the kinship, the service in helping others,

Not just family, our sisters or brothers.

We know we are part of a very good group,

But we are always ready to add to the troop.

We brag up the group whenever we can,

And tell of the service projects we plan.

We went to Tim Horton’s with good intentions,

Bookmarks in hand, but alas no convention.

The drive thru was popular, but walk-ins were not,

Only one man to take the picture we got.

I guess Wellington was not a popular spot,

To gather the new members we sought.

So our hope of expansion and publicity was dashed,

But our enthusiasm hasn’t crashed.

We will continue to spread the word,

Wherever we are, the news will be heard,

So on this count, we did strike out,

But we will move on and continue to shout,

The virtues of WI and our endeavors.
