- The Front Porch
The Lumber Jills of Balsam Hill and their guests enjoyed a tradition in our rural area .. meeting for a beverage and hospitality on The Front Porch. There are still many old farmhouses with the integral front porch and oh! the stories they could tell.
Families gathered to relax after a busy day in the hayfield and hayloft. Young children created fantasy worlds in this safe space. Friends and family may have clip-clopped up the lane in horse and buggy to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon catching up on local events.
At this farm, there no longer are cows In the fields but it is quite common to look out and see a white-tail mom and fawn enjoying some lush grass in the silent early morning or when dusk signals the end of another day.
