Description
On September 21, 2018, Calabogie Ontario was hit by a tornado. Considerable damage was done to houses and trees; even damaging the top of the hydro dam. Many trees on the peninsula jutting out on Calabogie Lake in Barnet Park were felled.
The ladies of Calabogie WI decided to plant trees. As one of their treasured ladies, Hennie Schaly, had died suddenly in 2017, it was decided to plant a maple on the peninsula in her memory. It was planted beside the flower garden that Hennie and her husband, Hank, had started with the Senior's Club a few years earlier.
The plaque reads:
"Calabogie Women's Institute - In memory of Hennie Schaly
July 2019"
