While the members of Bethel Zion WI were celebrating the 125th Anniversary of FWIO with a Tea Party in the backyard of Sandra Johnston's home, little did they know they were being observed by tiny creatures created by members of the Bethel Zion Zoomers for WISH #3.
These little stone creatures were following the Zoomer's selected theme of "Fun With Nature Around Us". We can often see these real little gifts of nature and either love them or consider them pests, but do we ever think of what these ladybugs, butterflies, and beetles think of us? Are they perhaps laughing at us or considering us as pests? What can we do to help others have "fun with nature around us"?
Susan McConnell created a cheery ladybug with googly eyes and antennae which she later placed in the garden as a surprise for her youngest grandson. He was very excited and happy when he found it. Wish you could see the video!
Bianca Brown created a ladybug with spots and a beetle with coloured stripes, painted to attract attention, and decided that she would give one to each of her grand-daughters who both care about our environment and realize the importance of insects to the life of birds, frogs and other small creatures.
Rosemary Enright painted a beautiful butterfly on a flat rock and placed her artistic creation on the walkway to her grandchildren's bus hut, making their last day of catching the bus before summer vacation, a fun trek.
Sandra Johnston made a caterpillar out of several small stones, an acorn hat and pipe cleaner feet. She decided to take it to her blind friend who, although she could not visually see it, could feel it. Her friend admitted that she was glad she didn't have something that large crawling around in her garden, but was pleased that she had been included in "Fun With Nature Around Us".
