When Marion was a teenager she left home in Barbados to spend a year in Ontario to help her aunt with 2 year old twins. She was in for a lot of surprises. Perhaps the one she enjoyed the most was the progress of the seasons. The changes were much more clearly defined than at home. Instead of towering palms with their season fronds, she watched the bare branched trees sprout green buds and flowers and then unfurl to summer leaves. Even more beautiful were the autumn colours yellow, red, gold. Alas! These dropped but the symmetry of the bare winter branches in the snow had its own splendor. She would always remember the way each season had its own beauty. But she missed the constant sunshine.
