TWEEDSMUIR SPILLOVER

OMG - what’s that coming from our Tweedsmuir?

While the Wandering Investigators Sharing Hijinks look forward to the exciting possibilities of tomorrow, we never forget to look at the realities of our history. What does WI mean to us? The answers are in our Tweedsmuir history books.

Once we were a large group of young women, mothers of young children, anchoring our families on this windy spot where we made our homes. We catered every wedding … we equipped the early years play group … we bought the school’s first computers … we bought equipment for the volunteer firemen … we sewed for charity … we organized food drives … we baked and baked and baked some more … we worked tirelessly to help our community. We had jobs on farms, jobs in schools, jobs in stores, jobs in offices, but we always made time for the WI.

WI meant so much to us: friendship, service, shared goals, a sense of purpose, opportunities to learn and to share our learning, building our community, strengthening our country… but at the heart of everything we did there was love and there was fun.

All those things are still true today. We look forward to finding new members and new ways of meeting, new goals and new purpose. Each little brick in our village, each person in our make-believe community carries the message, “As we built before, we will build again” … and that promising future will be captured in a digital Tweedsmuir, somewhere in space and time … where WI continues to be the heart of the community.
