Craighurst WI In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday, the Craighurst WI (Simcoe South-Kempenfeldt District, Simcoe Area) installed a flag pole and flag on the site of their former Community Hall. The land is now a parkette and also hosts the Craighurst Village historic signs, which tell the village story with the help of pictures from their Tweedsmuir History. Pictured are current Members of the Craighurst WI. Westwood WI Members of Westwood WI (Peterborough District, Trent Valley Area) celebrated the 120th Anniversary of WI with a ROSE Session! Everyone enjoyed birthday cake and a walk down memory lane with a review of WI and its structure, as well as past highlights, including conferences, Home Economics courses and bus trips. Canada 150 & WI 120 Crinan WI On July 20, 2017, the Crinan WI (Elgin County District, Southern Area) celebrated Canada's sesquicentennial and WI's 120th Anniversary with a ROSE Program dedicated to a local piece of Canada's history. The celebration included a Victorian Picnic lunch held at the Backus Page House Museum (located at 29424 Lakeside Line, Dunwich Township, Elgin County). The picnic was followed by a guided tour of the museum. Each Member invited at least one guest and all Members and guests wore red and white in recognition of Canada's 150th. The afternoon concluded with some of the Members and guests visiting St. Peter's Anglican Church Cemetery, the burial place of Colonel Thomas Talbot. Talbot was the land speculator responsible for settling newcomers to the land in 29 different townships (on the north side of Lake Erie), from Long Point to the Detroit River.
