- Description
- The Lucky Lilies did not have to travel far to view and now share a prominent W.I. hall in our community. Our neighbouring branch bought an 81 year old school on May 22, 1964. It is located on the south west corner of Mornington township, known as Gravelridge. It was named this due to the fact that a high ridge of gravel and sand runs through some of the farms in this area.
Gravelridge W.I. hall became well-known and filled a void in the area for a much needed smaller rental space for various organizations. I should also mention this hall is situated on a good sized lot which was another great rental feature for outdoor activities.
Gravelridge W.I. branch kept the hall alive as they catered many, many meals to any size group, organization, or family celebrations. Many upgrades were made through the years. Their strawberry social was, and still is, a very popular event in the community.
Our Lily Dempsey W.I. branch has rented this hall for events such as special meetings, guest speakers, and Rose programs so we could accommodate more people. The kitchen was a great asset.
Gravelridge W.I. hall has been and sill is serving our community and honours our W.I. vision where women work together for safe healthy families, communities, and pursue an enriched and balanced lifestyle. - Notes
