- Description
- The Winsome Wanderers enjoyed a very quick picnic on a very cold but sunny day in February at the New Dundee Park. We did this to commemorate the NDWI’s contributions to the community park over many years. The WI donated a large amount for the building of the Picnic Shelter in 1963. Much earlier after the war in 1945, the WI donated $100, (which was a substantial amount) towards the Memorial Gates at the New Dundee Park.
Our winter picnic was complete with butter pecan tarts, thanks to Lora (who used a ‘heavenly tarts’ recipe from one of our old WI cookbooks) and strawberries, Luanne brought apples, Judy brought the tablecloth and the ‘After Eights’, and Nancy adorned our table with lovely picnic dishes. The Winsome Wanderers were decked out in their summer hats because indeed it was a sunny day.
