Relief work was the outstanding feature of the t activities during these depression years and the raising of money a secondary _ (£9 consideration and only sufficient funds to carry on the work was raised but the programs at the meetings were consistently excellent. We might here pause to pay tribute to the late mrs. C. R. Ankenmann who took a keen and active interest in the work of the Institute, also to prominent men of the town such as the late Mr. id. A. Halliday, the. late Mr. 3. J. Mickie -, the late Mr. William _ McDonald end many others who encouraged the work of the institute, contributed to its programs and supported its undertakings. During the years the institute Hall was leased, a goodly revenue was derived over and above the rent paid by re-renting for dances and other meetings. in December 1930, twenty-eight hampers valued at $2.00 each were distributed to needy families. At the annual meeting May 1933 Miss Stewart continued as Bresident and Mrs. J. J. McKinnon first Vice President, Mrs. W. u. Schweitzer Seeretery-Treesurerr. , It was during this year that glasses were purchased for two school children and ( ;r§ the relief committee kept busy getting clothing for needy children. Editing T an edition of the Enterprise was undertaken for which the Institute received $25.00, This year as well as the previous year, a donation of $15. was given toward the Gommunity dhristmas tree and packing baskets of Christmas cheer for needy families continued. TWenty-six baskets of provisions and baskets of apples 1 were made possible by a grant from the Town Council, donation from Liebeck and Heinmille; and help from the Junior Institute. The baskets were packed at Mrs. J. A. Rennie's and delivered by Mr. Cliff. Wright.
