Old woolens were collected to be made into blankets -- 9 Ibs. of woollen rags made one blanket and delivered to the Salvation Army for shipment to Brandon, -- Manitoba to be recycled into blankets. 5. Members were asked to display the words "Make your thinking as valuable as your knitting" so the world could be rebuilt when the war was won. "Thinking is the Foundation of Progress". - 6. When Mrs. Galbraith was President she asked the members to stick together for > j Home and Country and to have one cause, that is to carry on with the men who . are fighting for us and who need all of our help. | 7. Mrs. J.H. Findlay (the President in 1941) said "We as members of the W.1. have tried to do our duty for our King and Country and as far as South Renfrew is concerned, we have not fallen down". She also paid tribute to the mothers of Canadian soldiers and was thankful the W.1. was able to meet in a place which had been unharmed. 8. A couple of wartime Roll Calls were: i) How a Canadian woman can do her best for her country in war or in peace -- What is our Empire fighting for? and ii) How . can we as W.1. members help win the war? 9. One President said "Continue our war work -- nothing else matters now but victory -- we should put our shoulders to the wheel and help carry on the war work". . 10. _ All reports were to include what was being done for war work and "while we are doing this work we have one thought uppermost and that is to bring this was to an end". 11. _ Members were reminded of the worldwide organization they belonged to and to remember that Germany also had W.1.'s. ' 12. _ "We want peace and freedom to pursue a Christian way of living and so make . the world a better place to live in". ' . 13. _ Two mobile kittchens were purchased for use in England. Lots of fruit and 2000 Ibs of garden seeds were sent to England on year. . 14. _ Mr. Cunningham a speaker from the Department of Agriculture urged the need * for an increase of milk production to make butter and cheese which Britain needs so badly. *
