THE PFIFTYâ€"THIRD ANNUAL OF THE TRENT VALLEY CONVENTION â€" October 17 & 18, 1979 The combined Districts of Hastings, Prince Edward, Northumberland and Peterborough make up the Trent Valley Convention Area held at Lakefield United Church, Lakefield on Oct. 17th & 18th. 1989. To bring the "Year of the Child" to a close the Theme of the Convention was "Children of all ages have one thing in common: They close their ears to advice; they open their eyes to example". One of the many interesting things brought to our attention by our F.W.I.0O. President Mrs. Clarence Diamond of New Hamburg, Ont. was the Golden Jubillee Flag Tour. The aim of this Flag Tour around the World is for this to be a Symbol of Faith in the ACWW and to make W.I. Members more aware of ACWW and its projects., Flags were presented to representatives from all ACWW Countries. One of the ACWW projects is the collection of funds for the development of Women‘s Institutes in other countries. This project is known as "Pennies for Friendship" and it is hoped that it will collect 8% million pennies during 1979â€"80 for this purpose and also to finance the Flag Tour. wie One of the Flags was presented to Mrs. C. Diamond by the ACWW President at Council last July in England, ‘ and is to be returned when ACWW meet in Hamburg, Germany in May 1980. $ â€"< white The Flags were made of/flannel with the ACWW crest in green, & were made by W.I. members in England. Mrs. Diamond had the Flag on display at Lakefield and $114.13 amount of money was collected at the 1979 ] Trent Valley Convention Area. â€"â€" l | * ud o > * & #)z =â€" t C8 l < e y & LA <*x~ A ®. * «* o. h oaillx."
