Each rural woman has a larger portfolio of knowledge in today's world than did our foremothers in a large community. With global communications, we see the challenges that face us as we attempt to feed the world's malnourished children. We learn about new technology called Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points commonly called HACCP (pronounce hasip) which defines for us the places where bacteria is most likely to contaminate food products. Women are in private corporation workforces, in key jobs in government, in top positions in world organizations; women are a force in today's world. And many of us owe the gains that women have made in society to the Women's Institute. This first organization of women for the common good has influenced many of our lives. Quiet, unassuming, and not given to the spectacular, the Women's Institute has operated faithfully For Home and Country.
