Guest speaker was Reverend Gordon '2 Williams, of the televised religious program 100 Huntley Street, On May 17,1981 Delmer United Church observed its 75th Anniversary. Members of the present congregation and past members who had moved away met to celebrate this important event. With the church and basement both filled, the minister,Pastor Jim Girling presided for the service. Guest speaker was Rev,,G,,Williarras of 100 Huntley Street, Toronto. His message, taken from Acts Z,was "Power in the Church today” Mr.Floyd Sanderson and Mr.Larry Anger Sr. led in prayer during the service Special music was provided by the choir and Mrs, Jim Girling sang a solo while the Anniversay Cake was cut by two of the eldest members, Mrs.William bul. Crawford and Mr.Harrison Fewster assisted by Pastor Girling and a former minister tc Rev George Shields. The silver trowel that had been used to lay the Church's . cornerstone was used to cut the cake. The ladies of the church served lunch which was followed by a fellowship hour. During this time greetings were read from former members and friends and music was provided in song by Mr.Byran Malctt of Woodstock and Mrs.Richard Lester of Toronto. A group of Delmer young ladies also delighted the gathering with singing, Four hundred and fifty people attended this anniversay service on a beautiful spring day and following the services the weather lent itself for much visiting and handshaking.
