Williamson were Counciliors along with the pastor as leader. . . _A numbsr of conversions took place during these years. Rev. Bellsmith was tragically killed in an automobile accident.»x /96! In 1953 a childrens, "Happy Hour," was organized . These meetings were held after school for one hour.weekly. There was great interest and large attendances. Only after Brownsville school closed and the children went by bus to area sehools were these meetings discontinued. Some of the leaders and helpers were ;Mrs. Ken. Kilmer, Mrs. Earl Holland, Mrs. Wu. Willismson, Mrs. Sam Dearden, Mrs. Ray 5 Bentley, Mrs. Stan. Porchak, Mps. Stan. Kenyon and others. During the summer vacations, Daily Vocation Bible Schools were held in the church with a record attendance of over one hundred . Among the teachers were Rev. Erland Smith, Harriet Groush and Ruth Wallace of Children‘s Bible Mission, Hamilton, and for many years the Christian Service Centre of Waterford. Our latest one in 1976 was held in the memorial bhall, combining with the United and Baptist churches . It was a real success. In 1957 & 1958, the addition of a classroom, kitchen and washroom were added to the already existing annex classroom, also a new hardwood floor laid throughout. 1 In 1961, the annex was redecorated and new drapes hung, due to the efforts f of the ladies of the church. , in 1962, a call was extended to Rev. Stanley Kenyon, to be pastor. Mr. Kenyon resigned in 1964. A new communion table and pulpit were placed in the church in 196Q by the George Clarke family in memory of their parents. This was handcrafted | by lir,. Lew Ketchabaw of Tillsonburg, who also remodelled and built a new platform. The church was redecorated at this time, new light colored pews installed also new stained glass windows, making a pleasing addition to the main auditorium.,. A new all furnace was installed and a new tile floor laid. f The Baptist parsonage built many years ago was rented for a number of years, after the church united with Springfield Baptist. The rent was *4*4.,.00 per month at the beginning. The members decided to dispose of it in 1958 and a sale was made to Mr. Gordon Smith. The money was invested in bonds in the Elliot Heights Baptist CBOrechn, Haemilton. ‘ The church over the years have had a missionary budget, helping support a * great variety of missionary boards and some individual missionaries who went out from our own district. On January 10th, 1965, after many supply pastors, Mr. Earl Holland,; a student pastor from London Bible College was engaged. In June 1965, he married Misg Tng Gould, also a graduate of London Bible College. _ Pastor Holland resigned in 1968 to take a pastorate at Blair.
