As the skit progressed we got a flashback of the days when apples were dried for pies, hops gathered for yeast, wool carded, soft soap made and all baking was done at home. A solo "The Second Minuet" by Mrs. Matthew Dowell (Freda Schaefer) was a highlight of the programme. While Mrs. Claude Wilson played a medley of march tunes, all the ladies in costume promenaded about the room, displaying their colorful gowns. The oldest gown worn by Mrs. Haines, complete with hoops, was over one hundred years old. In keeping with the spirit of the meeting was an interesting display of old photographs, dishes, fans, and a crazy quilt. At this time some of our local photography fans appeared with their cameras, t aking pictures of the over eightyâ€"yearâ€"old grandmothers, and those in costume. Refreshments of sandwiches and cookies were served by Mrs. McMurter and her committee, bringing to a close a very enjoyable afternoon. ' hapttinns C . & ' â€"â€"\&_ ‘.'
