| 3 CORONATION WOMEN‘S INSTITUTE ORGANIZATION ¢ A meeting for the purpose of organizing a Senior Women‘s Institute - was held in the Town Hall, Bolton, Monday, Jan. 1l18th, 1937 with the County President, Mrs. Smith, Vice President Mrs. Robert J. Watson and Secretary Mrs. John McCullough present. Nrs. R. J. Watson opened the meeting. Mrs. Smith outlined the origin, growth and objectives of the Ontario Women‘s Institute and how it functions. Mrs. John McCullough read the constitution and byâ€"laws. Mrs. Russell Haines made a motion which was seconded by NMrs. Russell Chamberlain that an organâ€" ization to be known as Bolton Senior Women‘s Institute be formed. The meetings were to be held on the third Tuesday of each month. In February 1937 permission was received from the Department of Agriculture, Women‘s Branch, to change the name from the Bolton Senior Women‘s Institute, to Coronation Women‘s Institute, to commemorate the fact that it was organized in the coronation year of King George VI. TENTH ANNIVERSARY On Tuesday, January 21, 1947 Coronation Women‘s Institute celebrated its tenth Anniversary with a special open meeting in Bolton United Church, to which all past members were invited.
