The April meeting of Brown's United Church Women was held on April 5 at Browh's school. Mrs. Clarence Tate, pre- siden!, was in charge of the business meeting. Points of interest arising from this business, includ- ed: Donations are to be sent to the Dr. Graham Homes, India, and to the James Purdue Centre, St. Marys; Catering plans were finaliz- ed for a wedding anniver- sary celebration coming up shortly. The hymn, Rejoice The Lord Is King, was sung and scripture readings depicting the events of Holy Week and the Easter story were given by Mrs. Mervyn Beavers. Mrs. Hubert Uren, Mrs. Clarence Darling, and Mrs. K. Munro. Mrs. Towle presented meditations on these read- ings and Mrs. Clarence Tate lead in prayer. The hymn, The Day Of Iiysurrestion, was wag; - - The February meeting of Brown's UC.W, was held at Bpown's school. Mrs. Clar- ence Tate, president, opened the meeting with a poem "What is “a Valentine", followed by prayer. Brown's U.C.W. is to present the World's Day of Prayer serjice to patients in the nursing homes in St. Marys. On Feb. 18 there is to be a Family Party for the Brown's ’congregation. Catering Plans Browns Ucwstdd) Fiii And Sa'mOCI Browns UCW As an expression and renewal of faith, everyone repeated The Apostles' Creed, in unison and Mrs. Towle gave a fine, inspira- tional Easter message, clos- ing with the poem, It's Easter Now. , The hymn, I've Found A Friend, o Such A Friend, was sung and Mrs. Towle pronounced the benediction, and showed slides from the Passion Play at Oberam- mergau, showing vividly and beautifully the last days of Jesus' life and his Mti- mate triumph over death, in the Ressurection. These scenes brought the. reality of the Easter experi- ence very close. Mrs. John Conway gave courtesy remarks and an- nounced the Mother and Child Banquet on May 6 at 7 pm. An interesting program is planned. Mr. and Mrs. Garry Dai- ley and family, from the London Branch of the Sal- vation Army, will show puppets. Following the singing of Grace, a special Easter lunch was served by the group in charge. A happy time of friendliness and fellowship followed. On March 4, there will be a business meeting for the U.C.W. at 11 am. Members are to bring, their own sandwiches for lunch. Sev- eral, U.C.W. members plan to attend the Presbyterial at First St. Andrew's United Church, London, beginning al 8.45 ami. The program was prepar- ed by the church in society and social action group. Mrs. John Conway opened the program with a reading, It Is Comforting To Have God. Relatives of Mrs. Edith Sprecher (Harris) were shocked to learn of her sudden passing, last Sunday in Cremona, Alberta. The community extends their sincere sympathy to her family. Terri-Lynn McKay read the address to Christine, who thanked the group and invit- ed everyone to her open house this Sunday, in the afternoon and evening.
