The Town Crier, March 25, 1981 KINTORE: The Aâ€"J Baker â€" Wildwood parents commitâ€" tee wish to thank everyone who helped make their bake sale on Friday such a success. It was a great way to end the school week and make way for the March break. School children now get a chance to catch up on sleep,â€" work and projects that the teachers have asâ€" signed. Take some time to check out a sugar bush and watch the sap drip into the buckets. The high school students have just finished their exams last week. We wish ~everyone well with their results. BY SANDRA SQUIRE Students enjoy bake sale The minutes of the previâ€" ous meeting and the Treaâ€" surer‘s Report were given by Mrs. John Conway and Mrs. David Arthur. Notes of appreciation were sent from those who had received gifts because of illness. Mrs. Murray Taylor openâ€" ed the meeting with a poem ‘Tis Spring. The March meeting of Brown‘s United Church Women was held at Brown‘s United Church. Events of interest in the future are: â€" Westminister Weekend May 29 â€" 31, Alma College Weekend in August. Mrs. Taylor gave a report of the Presbyterial meeting in London. ‘ Mrs. Murray Kingdon, convener â€" of Stewardship and Finance, presided for the program. She introduced the Study Book, Partners In the Gospel. Study of this book should increase awareness of many facets of Christian life esâ€" pecially working with peoâ€" ple, not just for them. The hymn Lord Jesus Friend of Women by Betty Where Do Women Belong? Students at A. J. Baker school had a difficult time deciding what delectable baked goods they wanted, at a bake sale last Friday at Iunch. The sale was organized by parents from both A.J. Baker and Wildwood schools. The money will go towards school projects. A snowman cake was raffled off also. & A panel of women: Mrs. Murray Taylor, Mrs. Robert Arthur, Mrs. Murray Kingâ€" don and Mrs. Hubert Uren; discussed the question â€" ‘‘Women â€" where do they belong?" These included the teenager, the young married woman, the middleâ€"aged woman, the widow, the spinster and the elderly senior citizen. > Mrs. Murray Taylor read a poem on Stewardship entitled God‘s Little Pig. Phillips Fisher was sung. The scripture lesson, read by Mrs. Robert Arthur, was taken from Mark, Chapter 5. The class also went to the post office where Postmistâ€" ress Joyce McPherson expâ€" lained how the post office operated. ; Ap 3/ 81 On February‘26, the grade one class from Wildwood School, accompanied by Miss Won and Mrs. Dyer, visited the Kintore Library. The recipe was the Eggoâ€" nomical Quiche. The parts of the egg were labelled. The group learned how eggs are graded and why. The reasons why a stale egg will float and what happens to egg whites with age or lack of refrigeration were explained. â€" ‘ The meeting continued with â€"the roll call and the members discussed the chaâ€" racteristics of a good quality egg and learned how they can tell a person‘s fortune.
