Around Castlletoirt Going back a couple of weeks, the Castleton United Church Sunday School presented their annual Christmas con- cert Sunday afternoon, December 21 and the church was full of parents and friends to hear the 80 children do a lovely job in presenting skits and songs. The concert was entitled ”Music for the Manger" and after the program the children received gifts and refreshments were served. The next night a large group of Sunday School children and staff enroll- ed through the village stopping at various homes and bringing good cheer and swash music. The carollers warmed up later at tlre church with donuts and hot chocoléte. Quote: "Not with forbodings sad, But with faith and guod cheer we welcome to our hearts-another year." We didn't have to "dream" about a "white Christmas" this year, did we? It was white, cold and beautiful and we trust the festivities of the season have left you with enough warm memories to carry you through to the spring thaw. Mi, and Mrs. Cecil Graham and family of Bridgenorth were Christmas guests of Mrs. W. Graham and Ron. Sunday afternoon, December 28, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Broomfield celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a reception at the Town Hall which was attended by 200 guests. We are sorry to hear that since then Mrs, Broomfield has been a patient in the Cobourg General Hospital. We were sorry to hear also that Mrs. Argyle (Verna) Allen is a patient at the Peterborough Civic Hospital, and wishes for a speedy recovery are sent to both ladies. Sunday evening at the Castleton United Church a beautiful candlelight service was held, led by the minister, Rev. G. Ficko, with several lovely choir selections under the leadership of Mrs. H. Allen. C “meme, c 1117-35") with Joyce Buchegger 344-7870 Mr. and Mrs. Bert Shredd of Gilford, England visited relatives in Castleton just before Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tait and two children of Milton spent Christmas week at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. ' W.J. Tait. Mrs. Vivian Welton and her son Kingsley spent the holidays in Edmon- ton at the home of her daughter, Wendy. Mrs. G. Welton spent Christmas Day with her granddaughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stillman, Campbellford. Mr. and Mrs. Stan McBride, Jim and Julie, of Grafton were guests Christmas Day of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blakely, and New Year's Day guests of the Blakely's were Mr. and Mrs. J. Bellamy of Gananoque. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Usher and Shelly of Metcalfe visited Mrs. N, User and Mr. and Mrs. Lew May last week. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip May enjoyed New Year's Day dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lei. May. Mr. and Mrs. R. Preik and family, Cobourg and Mr. and Mrs. R. Crossman of Hanover were guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. Buchegger New Year's Day. Heidi, Erica and Cynthia Buchegger spent the holiday week in Newmarket at the home SEEM Paul. 2 7/54
