, ‘ i9. * Resolution re Water Resources EKs: uTe 8 : Copies of this resoiu’t;ion were prepared and on the Board!s recommendation were sent on to the conveners that this could become a':a\__t,m‘i_y project â€"under Agriculture â€"one which would have farâ€"reaching results. Perhaps we will hear in the reports that some Branches are taking this matter up.. Recently, there have been conferences on this matter and the consensus seéms to be "not how much water but the quality" is the real problem. We are also told that at least one manuâ€" facturer will have a‘detergent on the market within the year which will remove the "suds"" from the water in lakes and streams and the residue is not harmful. °_ There areé also plans being discussed for the~use of spray from the air to rid bodies of water of algae but we need to become more personal about this. _ I would like to add‘that during the year a copy of a resolution cane to me asking for advice. This dealt with the use of "green belts" for industry. I do * ‘not know whether this resolution was finally dealt with at a convention in that, © area but I consulted with Mr. A. LeMasurier, ‘Director of O.D.A. who said that ;‘ thisresolution was one of the most promising things he had seen in some tihe. | I have received from him a copy of a speech dealing with this matter. If copies could be used, I am sure he would provide them. It deals with regional development and shows what happens when there is no interest in planning. ° ° â€"" > > __*â€" Resolutions for consideration next May have come to. me and genpi-aiiy they are of good thought and preparation. _ C[Y"~ | > > c °[ ~> | pemaliyâ€" â€" I wou‘ld like to say in closing that "processing" the Resolutions the past three years has been one of the most satisfying experiences. This is a piece of work through which mich‘may be accomplished for the good of many people; because so many people are involved (or may be), it requires that we put thought. and . consideration into our resolutions. That this is being done is more and more in evidence and that Women!s Institutes are becoming more and more aware of the needs of the "Wwhole‘people!" is"indeed gratifying. ~ ; ‘°" 0| 0| _\ .~ _ "_ _. ... . s e e ce â€" .
