David has been a Member of the Charlton Branch, Branch 227, of the Royal Canadian Legion for I the past 50 years. 7 As well as the farm, the Attwaters have owned a Mining Property in south west Robillard since 1938. At that time Oswald purchased the south west quarter of the south half? of lot B, concession 2, and David purchased the south east quarter of the same lot. When he Joined the army in 1942 David sold, his quarter to Roland. When Oswald died David became owner of his quarter. In 1972 Roland sold his quarter to David' s son, Andrew. Some exploration work has been carried out on the property intermittently over the years. In 1968 David and Dorothy built a camp on their prop- erty. Since then some interesting showings have been uncovered, and more work is planned. The property adjoins claims formerly held by the Long lake Gold Mining - Company. David has a Prospector's License, and prospects as a hobby. _ Now to bring the Attwater history up to date, as of January 1974. Elsie died about 1951. Margaret Ethel, David's mother, died in 1959. Gertrude died in England about 1960, Muriel in 1968 and Gladys in 1972. Roland lives in retirement in Charlton David and Dorothy live in Larder Lake where David is in his 22nd year with the Kerr Addison Mine. or the younger Attwaters, Andrew married Pansy Burt of Newfoundland. John settled in Sask- T atoon in Saskatchewan, where he took training in heating, plumbing, and reflridger- ation. There he married Joyce Quiring. They have one son, Quentin. Michael is em- ployed with Longyear Drilling & Exploration Ltd. , presently in Africa. Catherine is a Sister with the Order of the Sisters of Saint Joseph with head quarters at North Bay. For the last year and a half Sister Catherine has been teaching; at Killarney. _ _
