iv PREFACE The manuscript was ready for the printer, when an unfortunate fire wiped out my home and belongings, including the manuseript and all my books of reference. For some time, I was too busy to think of reproducing the manuscript. But, after holding classes among Clubs, Auxâ€" iliaries, Chapters, and Societies of every kind for the purpose of giving detailed instructions on the subject, I felt that there was a positive necessity for such a manual as I had before preâ€" pared. More especially did I feel this in conâ€" | nection with the new field for women opened up ‘ by the War. Accordingly, I have again prepared the little manual, and it is now offered to the women of Canada with the sincere hope that it may prove of real usefulness. L. M. P. _ Cochrane, Ontario, November 15th, 1918. \
