May 2004 We, the undersigned, have viewed and judged the Tweedsmuir History books and they were so well done that it was difficult to choose a winner. All three W.I. 's deserve accolades and we commend you on the many hours of work that went into the books. The information contained in the volumes is important historical documentation for the respective communities and will be greatly valued for many years to come. The final volume of each Branch was the only one judged . as we felt that there were too many to judge adequately and fairly. However, we did look through all of them and thoroughly enjoyed the bounty of local history and news and marveled at the effort and time involved. Results were: Queen's Line 92 F orester's Falls 91 Laurentian View 88 We would like to especially compliment Queen's Line on the Arts and Crafts section; commend Forester’s Falls on their general appearance and organization; and emphasize the value of Laurentian View's "Obit" section for future reference. The judging process has lead us to offer several recommendations: I) Only one section be submitted for competition each year, thereby leveling the playing field for newer branches, eliminating repetition from year to year, and reducing the time involved for volunteer judges. 2) Photographs should reflect local events, scenes, buildings, etc. Pictures from far away points should only be included if there is a direct link to a Branch’s community. 3) An index would be helpful. 4) Avoid using paper clippings which leave a scrapbook impression.
