NEW TWEEDSMUIR HISTORY BOOK COMPETITION In November of 1994, Judy Bohn, Sue de Haan and Pesey McLeod met and drew up new Tweedsmuir History judging recommendations. These were adopted by the District in January and are as follows: l. That the Judging of Individual Categories be held for- four consecutive years in a row and that in the fifth year' the competition be for the entire Tweedsmuir History Volume/or Volumes, updated. 2. That the Indiviidual Judging Categories be as follows: 1995 -- Farm History -. Branch is to select one Farm History to be judged. This History is to be updated to the present time. The Branch will then hand in for judging the appropriate Volume/or Volumes of their . Branch Tweedsmuir History containing the Farm, History _ be Judged. Branch must indicate which Farm History they wish to have judged. 1996 - School History (rules same as above) 1997 - Branch History (rules same as above) 1998 - Church History (rules same as above) 1999 - Entire Tweedsmuir History Volume/or Volumes 2000 - Family History (rules same as above) 2001 - Business History (rules same as above) 3. That additional categories be added to No. 2 or that the sequence of the above be repeated, remembering that every fifth year, the entire volume/or volumes of the Tweedsmuir History is to be judged. 4. That the Scoring_for Judging of bn-diy-isis/ie-easy-jus be as follows: (1)General appearance and organization of the Material Neatness, legibility, readability...................... 20 (2)Pictures, maps, deeds, etc............................. 10 (3)Historical Data........................................ 65 (4)Documentation (inclusion of sources of information).... _§ Total Points..................... 100 5. That the Rules & Regulations for the Tweedsmuir History be as follows: (1)The history should not be the work of one individual but the work of a group of women with a leader appointed by the institute. The names of the women may be listed as authors (for example, Mrms. A. secured information and wrote the section on schools; Mrs. B. on churches, etc.) (2)Size .- 14" x 11" appropriate, but original or unique type of book will be accepted. Use 2 or 3 books rather than one oversize. (3)Loose leaf may be used. Professional binding is a small price for big protection and is acceptable. (4)Use good quality paper. A good bond is most acceptable. (5)The manuscript may be typewritten or written by hand or' both . could be used in a book. _ (6)5ources of information should be indicated as precisely as possible. Photostatic copies of newspaper clippings may be used (newspaper clippings become yellow and brittle with age), with source and date. Pictures should have titles giving place, date and, if pOSSible, names. All data should be checked to make sure they are authentic. Consult records of the local churches, municipal and township records, the Minute Books of School Boards, etc., land titles and Court House records and indicate where material has been obtained. (7)Additions or revisions should be indicated as such.
