In 2007, Ted Pedlar and Nathalie McVeen painted the panelling. A large number of volunteers have offered valuable services. To name a few: the late Margaret McMichael, Shirley McComb, Barb Taggett and her sister "Boots", Steven Barton, Chelsea Lawrence, Gladys and Mary-Ellen Morris, Carolyn Prentice, Mary Moore and Joe La Berge. The Art Gallery of Northumberland had an outreach programme where art was hung in the branches for the public to View. Volunteers from the Gallery would bring and remove the paintings. A number of years ago, Cramahe Council established a committee to look at renovating the Castleton Town Hall. A consultant was hired to see whether the Hall was worth restoring. Grants were applied for and received. A "Friends of the Castleton Town Hall" was established to raise funds and the community made donations. Construction crews were hired to do the work and complete as much as possible while the money was there. The Friends group had a yard sale, held corn roasts, garden and house tour, and a card game to raise funds. I am the w.I. representative and historian for this group. Durng restoration improvements have been made to benefit the library. A door was installed into a room so now there is an emergency exit from downstairs, which is wheelchair acoessible with a ramp. A book drop was installed for patron use. A little more storage space was opened up under the balcony. A handicapped washroom was installed in the old jail cell. A boarded window in the front non-fiction room was repaired so now a lot of natural light comes in that window. On August 19th, 2008 Cramahe Council held the official re- opening of the Hall, supporters of the Hall were invited, people could see the improvements, have a light lunch and Council had their meeting there. Over the years book sales were held to raise funds. These sales were often held during the community corn roast. On March 1st, 2008 the library board cut open hours down from 17 to 12 hours a week. At the board meeting on May let, 2008 the board decided to close Castleton branch temporarily until all construction was done
