Once again, in 1957, it was found that reorganization of the women‘s work was necessary. The W.M.S. and W.A. united locally, as an experiment. It worked well. In 1960 this united group was known as "Women‘s Federation" with Mrs,. Jarvis Stoddart as President. All this was paving the way for the new women‘s organizaâ€" tion in 1962, namely "United Church Women." The aim of this organization is to unite all the women of the church for the carrying on of the total mission of the church in coâ€"operation with all other organizations of the church. The first President of our congregational U.C.W. was Miss Joyce Westlake, a descendant of one of the early families of Methodism in this area. Viceâ€"President â€" Mrs, George Kelsey Second Viceâ€"President â€" Mrs. Bert McKague Recording Secretary â€" Mrs. Clarke Myers Corresponding Secretary â€" Mrs. Stanley Kelsey ‘ Treasurer â€" Mrs. Fred Owens C A member of this U.C.W, Mrs. Stanley Murray, was the first Presbyterial U.C.W. President of Lindsay Presbytery, and in 196 was appointed as a member of the Board of Women. In 1958 a Couples Club was formed, thus completing the family organizations of the church. This Club . provides fellowship and constructive recreation for its members. First Presidents were Gwen and Walter Austin. Under the new curriculum of the United Church strong emphasis is being placed on what is known as Christian Education. A Committee of this name is appointed by the Official Board and is responsible for the training and guidance of youth. However, Christian Education Committee is only a new name for the training of youth has always been an important part of our church‘s program. Organization of Baby Band, Cradle Roll, Mission Band, C.G.I.T., Boys! Groups, Young Peoples has been the result of the sincere concern on the part of devout adult members. In connection with leaders of youth groups, it may not be wise to mention anyone in particular. Howâ€" ever, mention must be made of our C.G.I.T, Leader, Miss Myrle Campbell, who has led this group since 1928 and still carrying on, Many women in the province will look back to their C.G.1I.T. days with gratitude to Myrie. How much we owe to superintendents, secretaries and teachers of Sunday Schools! I well remember thinking as a little child â€" "Well, there wasn‘t much in Sunday School today. Mr. Newman wasn‘t there." Our Sunday School is held at the same hour as church. Superintendents ({since Union in 1925): Mr. Williamn Newman Mr. Norman Jamieson Mr. Arthur Bell Mrs. Olive McDonald Mr. Steven Keown Mr. Murray Austin Mr, Earle McKague Mrs. Jeannette McKague Mr. M. J. Stoddart Mr. Charles Stoddart Mr. Stanley Kelsey Secretaries: Bert Good Lloyd Mosure Myrle Campbell Stanley Thomas Kathleen Newman Bill Glanfield Clarke Myers Our Choir,. We are indebted to the faithful members who lead the service and worship in song each Sunday. Sometimes we have a struggle to keep going, but always new members give help and encouragement. Leaders: Mr, Cecil Smith Mrs. Angus Jewell Mr. Percy Bole Mrs. Stanley Kelsey Rev. Earlston Doe Mr. Gordon Murray Mrs, R. W. Thomas Miss Shirley Myers . Mr. George Reed Miss Ina Mcleod (Mrs. Glenny) Mrs. Walter Russell During Cecil Smith‘s second term of leadership, two concerts by choir members were presented in the town hall to a full house each time. Proceeds were turned into church‘s general funds. Organists: Miss Laura Thomas Miss Myrle Campbell Mrs, Lloyd Mosure Mrs. Jarvis Stoddart Miss Katherine McKay November 17, 19h6, was the date of the dedication of the new electric Hammond Organ. This is a memorial organ placed in our church in memory of the young people who gave their lives for Canada in the Second World War. At this service the Woodville Male Quartette of former years, Cecil Smith, George Reed, Lorenzo Staples and Sam Newman, seemed inspired as they sang old familiar favourites. A full choir under the leadership of Miss Ina Mcleod sang the beloved "Seek Ye the Lord," Mrs. W. lapp singing the obligato.
