Four men have faithfully taken care of our church and property. Mr. Daniel Walker, with his ever ready smile, retired in 1931. Mr. Wilburt Thornton from 1931 to 19h7. Mr. James Campbell from 1947 to 1960. Mr. Carman Fligg from 1960 until the present. Looking over the record books we note that a prayer meeting was called by the "Union Committee" in June of 1925, At the close of this meeting the Woman‘s Missionary Society of Woodville United Church was organized. At the same time a W.M.S. was organized in Lorneville with twentyâ€"seven members. Mrs, Laura Massey (a sister of Mrs. Will Newman) was its first President,. The aim and object of this organization was (this taken from the handbook of said organization): To deepen the spiritual life of the women of the church. Lapp ’ Form 1929 to 19h7, Mrs. Hugh MeIntyre was the faitiful Treasurer â€" twenty years‘ service in one office. Shortly after Union, an organized sunday school class formed a strong group. This group, meeting once a month, was known as "The Active Service Class." Mrs. Will Newman, Mrs. Will MacPherson, Mrs. Thos. Westl&ce were the sunday school teachers of this adult class of young women which grew in such strength and numbers that it was found necessary to disband it so that other women‘s organizations in the church might have members to carry on, Twice in later years members of this class were privileged to assist at the celebration of the Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mys. Will Newman, when ninety former members bheld a reunion at the home of Mrs. Stanley Murray, and later when Mr. and Mrs. Will MacPherson celebrated their happy day. No name seems to appear as President of this class. However, one name does appesr on all available records â€" that of Miss Sallie Campbell, Treasurer.
