Parishicners in this area formerly belonged to Lindsay or Beaverton parishes. During that summer a lot was purchased from Mr. Charles McDonald and the building of the church was started. Much of the material was donated and all of the labour was voluntary. Rev. Father D. Cleary directed the work and laboured tirelessly along with the men from the turning of the first sod to the final completion of the building. â€" Rev. Father C. Begley designed and built the spire, and did the finer work inside. In December 19h7 the formal blessing of the church took place and Mass was celebrated by most Rev. Gerald Berry, Bishop of Peterborough, with several priests of the diocese present. In January 1955 Father Cleary was transferred to Port Hope and was succeeded as pastor by Rev. J. Greenan. Recently an oil furnace was installed as well as new pews and altar, and an improved lighting system. The most recent addition was a fine Lowery organ which adds greatly to the appearance of the lovely curch, as well as being of :. great help musically. Compiled by Mrs. A. Canning
