1972â€"1973 We contributed towards the Red Cross Swimming Programme at The Point in August, and for a wreath for the Cenotaph on November lith. At our annual Hallowe‘en costume party, prises were presented for the best and funniest costumes. Mrs J. Varga, art teacher at S.H.S., demonstrated Christmas decorations to use for the annual Senior Citizens‘ Christmas dinner. . . We had a very successful Valentine tea and bake sale, with a white elephant table; the 4â€"H club had their own table. . . . Fourteen members completed the course "The Knack of Sewing with Knits". Our membership is growing each month, especially with younger members, who are also willing to become involved with leadership in the Women‘s Institute. #% wzam 1974â€"1975 Annual events celebrated again this year included the Pot Luck supper for families, one of the highlights of the year, the Hallowe‘en party, the Senior Citizens‘ Christmas dinner, and the Valentine Tea and Bake Sale. In July we catered to "Hi Ho, Come to the Fair", held outdoors at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre at Queen‘s University, and, together with the Board of Trade, we served at the annual Chicken Barbecue at The Point. For our September meeting we had a tour of the new City Hall in Kingston, which was most interesting. On November lst we catered to a dinner at the new Frontensc County barns, on the outskirts of Sydemham, for their official opening. Mr John Hauch, Food and Restaurant teacher at S.H.S., demonstrated Christmas baking and gave us many hints for Christmas entertaining. In January, Mr Eric Forde spoke about "International Women‘s Year", and in February, Mr Browning, from the Frontensc School Board, gave an interesting talk on Continuing Education in the schools. We presented our two 4â€"H leaders with certificates for an Adelaide Hoodless rose bush for their outstanding work with the 4â€"H club. We had the piano in the Township Hall tuned, and members made new drapes and stage curtains for the Hall. We had an excellent turnout for the Quilting course. Our membership is growning all the time. 1975â€"1976 For our May meeting, Mr Frnk Lindsay gave an interesting talk about the International Ploughing Match, to be held near Joyceville in 1977, and explained how the W.I. would become involved. ‘ In October we had a Sarah Coventry jewellery party and the profit increased our bank account. At the November meeting, Lt.â€"Col. John Simpson spoke about the St.John Ambulance course, and showed & colour movie pointing out how important it is to know how to administer the correct first aid assistance at the scene of an accident, Mrs Mcleod, District W.I. President, was an honoured guest at our Christmas meeting, where Santa presided over the exchange of small gifts. In January John Willes, lawyer and professor at Queen‘s University, gave an interesting talk on the different levels of court and how they operate. At our February meeting the Area Representative for Wintario expleained how their money is spent, and how a group could apply or qualify for the Wintario lotteries. The W.I. will share the cost of the Cairn to be erected at The Point, and plans to sponsor & bursary of at least $50 for a Grade 12 Loughborough Township student proceeding to a higher level of education,. We sponsored the Folks Art Council of Performing &Arts who displayed many international dances and choirs, and a fourâ€"week St.John Ambulance course in Firstâ€"Aid in Sydenhan. One of our members presented a resolution on raising the drinking age to 21 at the Area Convention in Napanee; it was approved and will be considered by the Ontario Board of Directors. 25
