This year the District Annual convention took the form of a picnic, In July, at the home of the President, Mrs. W. Sirett, Portsmouth. The Sydenham W.1I. sewed garments for needy children in Northern Ontario. Mrs, Harry Guess, District Director, went as delegate to the Ottawa Convention of W.I. . Quilts, stockings, bags of candy were sent to Northern Ontario. It was decided to sponsor a threeâ€"day Chautauqua in the fall of 1923. A demonstration of "Wearâ€"Ever" Aluminum cooking utensils was held, a free meal being cooked, and served by the demonstrator. Exhibits under the District were shown at Kingston Fair. A sewing course was given. In April the members presented a local play, "The Little Clodhopper." 1924â€"1926 Money was earned by Schowl Fair lunches, bake sales (often held in Kingston), local plays, prize money from Kingston Fair, sponsoring during winter of weekly motion picture shows in the Town Hall. , This money was spent on: Fair prizes, cord of wood ($7) for a needy family, flowers for sick and shutâ€"ins, local Christmas Cheer baskets. Canned fruit and glasses of jelly were given to the Sick Children‘s Hospital. _ 1925 A gift of a brooch was made to Florence Barclay in recognition of her high standing in her Entrance Exams. The Sydenham Girls Champion Soft Ball team were given pins, also, and the Boys Baseball . Team and Hockey Team were also remembered. All W.I. Branches combined in a Horticultural Display at Kingston Fair. A donation was made to the District Institute to aid in furnishing a sunroom at the Kingston General Hospital. Flower seeds and dahlia bulbs were given out to members in the spring, the results to be used in the fall flower show. 9
