SCUGOG SHORES HISTORICAL MUSEUM It's role in the Community-s Any historical museum makes its aim the preservation ff artifacts and information relevant to the community St serves. Our museum would not serve its purpose if it did not also make its collections available to the people of the area and make its own contribution to life in the community of today. The museum can be the tool of the local history teacher andrhas been used this way by the staff of several of our schools. The museum's Craft Centre makes its own contribution in the summer as a leisure recreational facility which has been growing steadily in popularity over the last two years. A glance through the visitor's book shows that the ' museum is already a tourist attraction of value to the I area. The more successful it is, the more benefit will be derived from it by local businesses catering to tourism. The presence of a museum in a community, along with other 'cultural' groups such as drama, handiieraf't, music and art groups adds a certain amount of cultural tone which counts when individuals and even industries are deciding whether to locate in a given area. Heads of families and industries want to be sure that they are establishing in an area where families and employees will be happy to live, no matter what their interests.
