They settled on Lot 6 (South hal") Concession V, which included land on both sides of the VermilTion River. At this time, Hilma‘s widowed mother was living on neighbouring land. They had three children: Fred, Toivo or Toby, and Laila. They sold the parcel of land across the river from the house to Wentala. They turned the farm over to Toivo in 1946 and moved to Sudbury. Kauno died ‘ in 1949 and was buried in Sudbury.
