95 th Anniversary Tea November 8 â€" 1:30 pm Castleton Town Hall Our 95th Anniversary Tea was a succeess with approximately 75 people attending (10 members). President Shirley McComb, Vâ€"President Beth May and Secy/Treas Joyce Murray greeted the guests. Shirley welcomed everyone, and opened the occasion with the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect. Joyce, in early 1900‘s costume, read minutes from a 1905 meeting, noting 40 members. Followed by presentations by Stu Oliver, Reeve, Cramahe Twp and Cathy Galt (representing Dr. Doug Galt, MPP) and greetings from invited branches (Roseneath, Baltimore, Community, Codrington, White‘s School, and York Rd.) Myrtle Ducie, a Castleton member for 51 years, was presented with a framed ‘Honorary Life Member card and a spray of fall flowers. Myrtle was given the honor of cutting the anniversary cake, Program: Speaker Eileen Argyris gave an interesting presentation on researching information for the Cramahe/Colborne History Book "How Firm a Foundation". Sue La Berge thanked Eileen and presented a gift. (The Colborne Millennium Committee (Jane Borham) also had the history books for sale â€" Eileen autographed the books after the tea.) Shirley thanked all those who came to help celebrate our special occasion (Helen Holmes, past member, was visiting from England) and also members who helped put tea together. Following Grace, a luncheon of sandwiches, cake and tea was served. Sue La Berge, Tweedsmuir Curator, had an excellent display of the Tweedsmuir History scrapbooks, plus earlyâ€"period costumes (courtesy of Cathy Galt). Joyce Bucheggar won the draw for a potted yellow chrysanthemum. Table decorations by Irene Osborne and Joyce Murray (fall theme: miniâ€" pumpkinsâ€"95th "flags", surrounded by gold leaves on gold doilies; gold and blue napkinsâ€"WI decals; gold/blue ballons, streamers added a festive touch).
