Brian Bellamy was raised in Salem on Peacock Lane. His parents, Cecil and f Edith had a greenhouse business. Brian attended the one room classroom in Salem until South Cramahe Public School was built circa 1960. . The 59â€"yearâ€"old Cramahe resident was a successful sulky driver/trainer with 617 victories earning $1,580,196. In 1986 he won the Pompano Park trainer‘s title, one of his highest career accomplishments. f In an interview following Brian‘s death on December 15, 2011 his publicist and © announcer Frank Salive sad, "He was a real kind and gentlemanly guy and really well liked here. He could drive a ball 300 yards and he really loved his golf and marched to the beat of his own drummer you might say, as he really f enjoyed his snowbird trainer‘s life of splitting his time between Ontario and Florida." Brian‘s best horse in recent years was pacer Hazel Eyes, who won in a stakes series at Pompano, before Brian took him to Ontario where he was claimed away. Brian was highly regarded for his ability to improve horses with soundness and gaiting issues The 2011 racing season was the best for the Bellamy barn since the 1999 season. In 2011, his horses raced to 15 wins, eight secondâ€"place finishes and seven thirds from 63 starts, good for $63,493 in purses.
