The diocese is reported to have mandated that the parishioners pass a resolution supporting the closure. Instead, they approved a statement expressing their unhappiness with the decision. Their reply to the diocese stated, "We the parish of Trinity Anglican Church, accept, with saddened hearts, the Bishop‘s direction to close." Since then the church members and a growing cadre of the community have begun a concerted attempt to repeal the decision and reinstate the church which has been continuously holding worship services since before 1843 when construction began on the current building. This is no poorly supported, poorly thought out plea for clemency from a dying church. The group which has mounted an appeal of the decision has documentation to demonstrate that it is growing and financially viable, and that the bishop‘s decision was out of order according to Anglican Church regulations.
