BAILIEBORO WOMEN'S INSTITUTE l 2008 - 2009 REPORT _ [ Monthly institute topics encouraged fellowship, charitable giving and the knowledge to build life-enhancing skills. The format of the meetings was diversified but was always of current interest. Presentations from charities were heard. Heart and Stroke Foundation was well represented by the poignant story of Diane Barry, who recounted her personal journey through heart disease from diagnosis to recovery. Other fields of interest were discussed - the effect of Global warming and mental health care were topics of lively conversation. Subject matter related to home design and the selling of your home was offered by two local agents. The CEO of our local library reminded us of all the benefits provided by the library and our need to use it. Our President Marian Graham, once again participated in the Millbrook Fair by entering a display of "Rural Life" on behalf of the Bailieboro Women's Institute: which was well received. Many light-hearted programmes were enjoyed this year. The December meeting was held as a potluck dinner with spouses and guests invited. Donations were received for the Millbrook and District Food Share. The evening featured music and jokes and was enjoyed by all. The August meeting provided the opportunity for the institute to attend the highly successful play, "The Schoolhouse", at the Fourth Line Theatre with refreshment following at the home of institute member Reta Johnston. In closing a list of some of our givings is outlined: Money for Backpacks-Children in Need; Pennies for Friendship; Water For All: Erland Lee Museum; FWIO Headquarters Fund: Adelaide Hoodless Home; Emmanuel United Church: Otonabee South Monaghan Library: Women Feed the World. A year of enjoyment. Submitted by Patricia Wood, Tweedsmuir Curator /‘) C)
