Beamsville Cenotaph

This is a picture of the Beamsville Cenotaph that was erected in Beamsville following World War I to honour the young men who had fought in that war and did not return home to their loved ones. Beamsville Women's Institute donated the 2 white cement urns in 1921 and has continued to plant them every spring. When the Town added 2 large black urns they were notifued about the history of the smaller ones so that they still remain in use. The WI plants all four urns now and looks after watering them all summer. Each April there is a Town clean up campaign and at that time the WI looks after picking up any debris in the area of the Cenotaph also as a small community project.
