O '. . O, WOMEN’S INSTITUTE HILLIER BRANCH Our three local newspapers were present at thisgevent and they all released a story. Enclosed please ï¬nd photos. . Our president Brenda Dunlay in green jacket, Cutting of the ribbon MPP Ernie Parsons, Our member Betty Stapleton and acting Prince Edward Mayor and councilor Paul Morris. For 91 years the ladies of the Hillier W.I. have lovingly cared for and maintained the Town Hall in Hillier. In fact, the ladies of Hillier have been meeting in the landmark building since 1914. A committee was struck to apply for a $20,000.00 grant through the Trillium Foundation to help install a new ramp, an electric door opener and wheelchair accessible washroom facilities. We have a member who could not use the washrooms as they were. Our application was granted. When the bill came in for all the work that had been done to make the hall fully accessible, it was $21,489.77. In order to make up the difference the Hillier W.l. members had to rely on our fund raising events. One fund raising event was the “The Amazing Loyalist Adventure†when the Hillier W.I. sold home made apple dumplings and child lunches to visitors and the community who always support us. The annual pot luck supper and auction is a real community event. The auction is our entertainment. I mean we have fun!!! This year knowing that we had a goal to meet, bid on items (sometimes foolishly) and donated generously. Yeh, we had enough money to get the job done. Thanks to WI. members and the Community of Hillier. Joyce Brown A)†-
