We will begin with another .Tweedsmuir story. and then we will do our yearly quilt tying which will be given to Children‘s‘ Aid for a needy family. Sonya Smith will be giving a talk on the Canadian film in- dustry. which should be very interesting. The roll call this month is “Your favourite Canadian movie“. Remember girls bring items suitable for Chil- dren‘s' Aid Society’s Christmas boxes (no canned goods please). Joan Priestman will be standing in as president, for this meeting. Our October meeting turned out to be a real funny afternoon. Evelyn Forsyth introduced her brotlierâ€"inAlaw Ken Wright; Ken gave a very ' informative and funny talk on Agriculture. Ken kept his talk light and ftmny while telling us about farming in the past, pres- ent and the future outlook for the industry. There were several antique . farming implements to *see while Ken spoke about the . early method 'of pasteur- izing milk. And as we all ,3 know this is My the Wl was started. Kat also inâ€" formed us that cows seek shade in the hot weather resulting in a higher yield ofmilk. Cows can become Hillier W.l. from Page 9 Johnston who played their own instruments. Steve sang song we all knew while Paul treated us to little ditties he had written for his children. We are delighted to inform you that Pam Littlefair has agreed to stand in as President until April 2004. We are having a special meeting on Wednesday» November 5" at to am. regarding Hillier W.l. af- fairs, our intention being to help the future meetings run smoothly. Remember to bring a brown bag lunch. We have made a donation to Kenya regarding the preserving and the shelf life of Kenya's produce. The organization we at: in contact with is called stressed when they are too crowded together or when their bedding is not clean; this of cornse interferes with the produce of their milk. We certainly do not have any budding farmers in Hillier, ifour mll call was anything to go by. One of our members said she would not mind raising “cute" little goats, another would like some “cuddly" lambs. Joanne would like to grow herbs and as for myself I thought it would be fine if] did not have to get up early in the momâ€" ing and get my fingernails dirty. On the whole the largest replies to the roll call was that no one wanted to be a farmer. There were 23 members at this meeting plus two guests, Ken who is Carrolle Wright's husband and Evelyn who is Canolle’s sister-in-law. At the sort of the meeting. instead of the Tweedsmttir story, I read out loud it rather droughtâ€"provoking message called Something to Ponder. We are happy to say Tony Darling is on the way to a full recovery aflcr his tri» ' plerby-pas' operation, this is put news. We would like to thank the Cherry Valley W.l. for the nice partythey held to cele- brate 'Iheir 95‘ anniver- sary. The entertainment for the 'afiemoon wm Stsve Campbell and Paul See Page l0 [1% Largo. Six of our members at- tended the Trent Valley Area Convention, which was held in the Seahorse Banquet Hall. Around 140 W.l. members attended this event; the lunch, which was served, was most enjoyable. We watched two funny skits, heard everyone had sev- eral jokes all in all a de- lightful day.
