While there are day- care centres operating at present in Picton, none provide facilities to accommodate children during weekends or while some parents are employed during shift work. Barbara Burford of Picton is exploring the possibility of establishing a licensed day- care centre which will operate seven days a week and remain open from 7 a.m. until 12:15 am. some 17 hours out of 24. ' “There is a need for it,” she said. “Enough people with children are employed in shift work on the Hill (Community and Social Services Prince Edward Heights) at the hospital and elsewhere.” Their need is the main aim of the centre Mrs. Bur-ford says.
