Brothers meet again after 53 years apart , By PAM BUCHANAN ‘ Gazette Staff Writer At 14 and “still wet behind the ears,” Bill Fudge left his home in Snodland, England, to immigrate to Canada and become a farm hand. Fiftyâ€"three years have passed and Mr. Fudge is now 67-years-old. He and his wife live at RR 2, Milford. 1 Recently, Mr. Fudge and his daughter, Mrs. Geraldine Rorabeck, travelled to England. For Mr. Fudge it was a renewing of old memories. For Mrs. Rorabeck it was a visit to her father’s native land and the meeting of relatives for the first time. i Returning home meant being with the family he left so many years ago; seeing his brother, Henry, 78, of snodland and sisters, Irene Downes, of Gravesend and Winifred Springett in Essex. It was a trip well worth while says Mr, Fudge. During his two week stay, Mr. Fudge toured Snodiand to examine what changes occurred in his absence. “To my amazement there didn’t seem to be many changes except ‘fflr the modernizing of a few things. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that my old homestead was still in place" Mr. Fudge visited his old school, Brook Street Primary, and found it was still in use. Smiles were PEARL GIBSON GARFIELDGIBSON Wed 73 years Celebrating 73 years of marriage Dec. 20 were Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Gibson. Until recently the couple were both living with their daughter and sonâ€"inâ€"law Mr. and Mrs. Sam Tripp of Wellington. Mr. Gibson is now a resident at the Trent Valley Lodge and both formerly lived at Glen Miller, near Trenton. He celebrated his 94th birthday on Dec. 12, his wife Pearl is in her 9151. year. The pair raised 12 children, of whom nine are surviving and now have more than 170 descendants, comprising grandchildren. greatâ€"grand children and greatgreat- grandchildren. The Gibsons were married 1905 at Grace United Church parsonage with Rev. J. McMullen officiating at the ceremony. At one time Mr. Gibson participated in constructing the Trent Canal and for 33 years was employed as an assistant locomotive foreman with the Canadian Pacific Railway.
