GLORIA AND RONALD BENWAY House and buildings are situated on one hundred acres of land,lot 52, Sophiasburg,Pr.Ed.Co. The earliest record in our possession shows ownership by Isaac Saunders, in 1885. The property was in the Saunders family until 1890, at which time Maria Ruttan became the owner, remaining so until 1909.Eemilles family are recorded owners from 1923 until 1938. gThe Supreme Court of Ontario was in possession in 1942 to 19h4. when the Sims family lived there. In 19““, Byron Wood and family took over the farm. After Byron's death,the Treasurer of Ontario was in possession until the death of Mrs. Wood in 1960. At this time, Manley Wood, the son, owned the farm until 1961, at which time it was purchased by Ronald and Gloria Benway,the present owners. The house was originally frame, later covered with insulbrick. Extensive renovations,both inside and out, were made by the Benways in 1961. The exterior was white stucco,which has since been changed to grey and white vinyl siding.
