GILBERTS MILLS W. I. 75TH ANNIVERSARY On June 29, 1983, Gilberts Mills W.I. celebrated its 75th anniversary which was held in the Town Hall at Demorestville with 78 ladies attending. The guests included members from local Branches in the County, also Northport U.C.W. Mrs. Rose Broad and Mrs. Clayton Carter received the signature of each guest which has been entered in the Tweedsmuir Book. Guests were seated at tables attractively decorated with rose bowls. The anniversary cake iced in Institute colors was centered on the buffet table flanked by gold and blue candles and streamers. Mrs. Leland Doxsee, President, welcomed the guests. Mrs. Bruce Scott, Viceâ€"President, was chairperson for the evening. The program opened by the singing of the Ode and all repeating the Mary Stewart Collect. Greetings were brought from the Provincial Board by alternate director Mrs. Alton Carr and from the district by Viceâ€"President, Mrs. Grant Nbrton. Mrs. Roy Brooks presented each lady with a yellow rose corsage. ' Former Pastâ€"Presidents who no longer reside in the community were introduced: Mrs. Carmen Scott, Mrs. Ellis Blair, Mrs. Frank Roblin, and Mrs. Genevieve Mills, and also presented with a yellow rose. Program consisted of two piano selections by Miss Sandra Lowe, hwmorous readings by Mrs. Ralph Richards and Mrs. Leland Pearsall, skit by Mrs. Roy Brooks and Mrs. Art Lowe, and an amusing game by Mrs. Burt Johnson- A sing-song brought the program to a close. The anniversary cake was cut by the President who asked mrs. Fred Hope to join her. The door prize, an arrangement of yellow roses was won by Mrs. Don Kotchapaw. Mrs. David Barker won the lucky plate prize. A buffet lunch of sandwiches, relish plates, fancy cookies, tea and coffee was enjoyed, followed by the anniversary cake. A SOCial hour was enjoyed bringing a pleasant evening to a close.
